13 Korean Dramas to Watch

I'm back with a Korean-drama edition of things to watch! Of course, there are other dramas that I have watched other than the ones listed, but these thirteen are my personal favorites/left a lasting impression. The genres below include action, melodrama, comedy, romance, thriller, and more! 







1) Sorry, I Love You (2004)
Notable Actors/Actresses: So Ji Sub, Im Soo Jung, Jung Kyung Ho
Summary: Cha Moo Hyuk (So Ji Sub) was adopted by an Australian family but was abused and left homeless at an early age. One day he comes across Song Eun Chae (Im Soo Jung), the coordinator for Choi Yune (Jung Kyung Ho), a famous singer in Korea, whom she is secretly in love with. Her fateful encounter with Moo Hyuk ends up affecting not only her life but that of her precious Yune as well.
Because of an accident, Moo Hyuk is left with 3 months to live and heads back to Korea in search of his biological mother. The discoveries he makes changes his heart from longing to revenge. Even with all this darkness surrounding him, he finds an unexpected source of         happiness with someone he did not expect to love.


2) 49 Days (2011)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Lee Yo Won, Nam Gyuri, Bae Soobin, Jung Il Woo

Summary: Shin Ji Hyun (Nam Gyu Ri) was enjoying absolute bliss as she was about to marry her fiancĂ©, Kang Min Ho (Bae Soobin), but her perfect life is shattered when she gets into a car accident that leaves her in a coma. She is given a second chance at life by a person called The Scheduler (Jung II Woo), but it comes with a condition: she has to find three people outside of her family who would cry genuine tears for her. In order to do this, she borrows the body of Yi Kyung (Lee Yo Won), a part-time employee at a convenience store for 49 days.





3) Master's Sun (2013)
Notable Actors/Actresses: So Ji Sub, Gong Hyo Jin

Summary: Joo Joong Won (So Ji Sub) is a cold and ambitious CEO, who measures all human relationships through money. Tae Gong Shil (Gong Hyo Jin) is a sensitive assistant, who suffers from insomnia due to her ability to see ghosts after an accident. Joong Won learns to trust Gong Shil and falls in love with her.









4) Secret Love (2013)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Ji Sung, Hwang Jung Eum

Summary: This drama will depict how Min Hyuk (Ji Sung) falls in love with Yoojung (Hwang Jung Eum), who supposedly killed his lover. He doesn't believe in love, while Yoo Jung believes in love but gets betrayed by it. Min Hyuk is a rich guy who has everything but a good personality, and burns with revenge after he finds out that his lover was killed in a hit-and-run. Yoo Jung takes the blame, but is a woman who refuses to give up on life even in despair. 






5) Two Weeks (2013)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Lee Junki, Park Ha Sun

Summary: Jang Tae San (Lee Junki) is a man who has been living a meaningless life and never thinks toward his future. He is on the run after being falsely accused of murder. Furthermore, he discovers that he has a daughter who is now suffering from leukemia. The drama spans exactly two weeks, and tells about Tae San's desperate struggles to save his daughter.








6) Nine: Nine Times Travel (2013)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Lee Jin Wook, Jo Yoon Hee

Summary: Park Sun Woo (Lee Jin Wook) is given nine chances to travel back in time to solve a crime that happened 20 years ago. However, this is not without consequences as his involvement in the past effects the lives of many including his.









7) Gap Dong (2014)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Lee Joon, Yoon Sang Hyung, Kim Min Jung, Sung Dong Il, Kim Ji Won

Summary: A criminal investigations drama about serial killings based on the real Hwaseong serial murders.













8) God's Gift: 14 Days (2014)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Lee Bo Young, Jo Seung Woo

Summary: A time-slip drama about a mother who goes back fourteen days in time to save her daughter from being kidnapped and murdered.










9) Liar Game (2014)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Lee Sang Yoon, Kim Soeun

Summary: A story about an innocent college student with a debt (Kim So Eun) and a genius con man & former psychology professor (Lee Sang Yoon) who participate in the liar game reality show, where only the one that succeeds in tricking the opponent wins the game.











10) Kill Me Heal Me (2015)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Ji Sung, Hwang Jung Eum

Summary: A romantic comedy between a third-generation billionaire with Dissociative Identity Disorder and a first-year Psychiatrist resident.
After a traumatic experience in his childhood, Cha Do Hyun (Ji Sung) suffered memory lapses and his personality then fractured into seven different identities. He tries to regain control over his life with the help of Oh Ri Jin (Hwang Jung Eum), a first-year psychiatric resident who treats him secretly. But Ri Jin’s twin brother, Oh Ri Ohn, is a famous mystery novelist who investigates about Do Hyun and his family.



11) Angry Mom (2015)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Kim Hee Sun, Ji Hyun Woo, Kim Yoo Jung

Summary: Jo Kang Ja (Kim Hee Sun) was once a legendary badass in her teenage days. As a young mother, she is the kind of person who prefers dramas to news or current events. But when she finds out that her daughter, Oh Ah Ran (Kim Yoo Jung), is being victimized by bullies at school, she decides to secretly enter her daughter's school as a student, and what ensues is a positive, upbeat, and poignant story that seeks to highlight trouble spots in South Korea’s educational system.





12) Oh My Ghostess (2015)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Park Bo Young, Jo Jung Suk
Summary: A romantic comedy drama about Na Bong-seon (Park Bo Young), who is possessed by a ghost and chef Kang Seon-woo (Jo Jung Suk), who doesn't believe in ghosts.












13) Signal (2016)
Notable Actors/Actresses: Kim Hye Soo, Lee Je Hoon
Summary:
 Detectives from the present and a detective from the past communicate via walkie-talkie to solve a long-time unsolved case.
